I’m on the internet marketer’s cruise, and I thought I’d share a lesson I learned this week from the trip.

As a former history teacher, the one thing at the top of my to-do list during this trip was to see Mayan archaeology. So during our stop in Cozumel on Monday, we took a trip to Tulum in Mexico.

Mayan ruins Tulum MexicoTulum was a walled city on the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. Today’s site still shows ample evidence of the amazing astronomical knowledge of the Mayans, and the importance of this particular site to their civilization.

But to be honest, without any context or background, the site is a bunch of stone structures on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think what you saw there were the remnants of builders who gave up in the middle of a project.

That’s where Manuel comes in.

This was the name of our tour guide, and he was incredible.

manuel sun tours Tulum MexicoDuring the 1-hour bus ride on the way to Tulum, Manuel shared his enthusiasm and passions for the Mayan culture (he’s part Mayan himself). He stressed the importance of keeping the language alive. He made sure we knew where Tulum fit into the grander Mayan civilization. He gave the different opinions of what happened to the Mayan civilization and weighed in with his own.

He shared proof of the greatness of this civilization, and a clear understanding of how those in power used specialized knowledge about astronomy to maintain their status.

And when we arrived in Tulum, he walked us around the site and pointed out the details that photographs can never deliver.

Manuel delivered his talk with energy, humor, and excitement. He also related what he was teaching back to knowledge that most of us were familiar with so we could best understand the lessons he was sharing.

I heard one of the other people on the bus say, “If I had a teacher like him in high school, I could have majored in history in college!”

The truth is the information and theories Manuel shared with us are all contained in books, on the internet, and even in films on the History channel.

But by being there in person, learning from a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, you couldn’t help but be transformed by the experience.

This is why I’m so passionate about teaching you in person next month, and giving you my system for adding $10,000/month to your business.  I want to help you realize that even though there are a lot of books, videos, and websites that can give you information about internet marketing and how to grow your business, having an experience in person, and learning from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide (in fact 5 of them), will make a huge difference in the results you get over the next 6-18 months.

Without Manuel’s help, Tulum would just be a pile of stones.

And without my help at SIMPLE, internet marketing will just be a pile of ebooks and websites that don’t make enough sense to truly transform your business.

p.s. Please learn another lesson from Manuel as well – try to become the enthusiastic guide who others go to, the kind that your customers will rave about to others. That’s what I’ll help you become when I teach you at SIMPLE at the end of February.

p.p.s. Here are some more pictures from Tulum so you can get a sense of what it’s like there.
