• Change message #1 to point to the download page
• Broadcast to existing subscribers where the download is

Add The New Offer To The Squeeze Page

Now that I have an instant gratification offer available, I need to put language on my squeeze page that brings attention to that.

In case you haven’t seen the squeeze page I had in place before today, this is what version 2, looked like from last week…

Obviously, there are several areas of the page I can make changes. I’ll start with the headline and focus attention on the “Be the Expert” motif that I’m going for. The subheading gets a tweak as well, again, concentrating on the main goals I have for my subscribers, and the avatar of my ideal audience.

Next, I’ll add a few bullets for my free gift. Since this will make the squeeze page longer, I’m going to cut down the original set of bullets to be more concise.

In general, I find that opt-in boxes should be as high on the page as possible – certainly high enough so no scrolling is needed to see them. This is in part because a squeeze page can look like a sales letter, which can turn people off (or at least pull up their guard). By having the opt-in box higher, it’s obvious they can hold on to their wallets.

So I’m going to swap positions with my photo and the opt-in box. Eventually, I’ll also change the language inside the opt-in box, but since I’m already split testing 4 versions, I’m going to leave that alone for now.

I make a subheading in red to explain that the free audio program is a free bonus for joining my newsletter. I’m doing that here so the focus overall is still on the long term connection with me (which I’ve renamed the IM Success Insiders Club to align this list with my overall IM Success branding).

I’ve decided to make another heading above my picture to personalize the page even more. The phrase, “Let Me Help Your Business Take Off!” is what I’ve come up with for now. This reinforces the idea that this page, and opting in is for them, and not for me.

Finally, I’ve changed the small link at the bottom to read “Already Joined? Click here…” This gives those that revisit the page a way to get inside, while giving those that haven’t the impression that there’s good stuff behind the curtain.

Of course, I’ll need to see the conversion numbers over time, but I think this will certainly do better than 16% with regular traffic that I’ve been getting initially with the original.

Add Download Page To Message #1

Now that the squeeze page has been changed, I need to make sure new subscribers can get to the download of my program.

If you are pressed for time, it’s better if you do this before you make the new squeeze page. But I have time to do both today.

All I need to do is go into follow up Message #1 and add a quick paragraph or two to let them know where they get their download. I have to remember to include the password for them so they can actually see it (and to avoid countless unnecessary help desk tickets!).

You may remember that message #1 was originally focused on giving them a video. I’ve decided to keep that in the message, but move it to the PS area. Since that video is really for people who are not quite sure what they want to be in business when they grow up, it’s more appropriate as a “by the way” instead of the focus of the message.

Tell Current Subscribers Of The Download

Since I’ve already started adding subscribers (about 43 have joined at this point with the Twitter/Facebook links I have, the organic search traffic, and readers of this 30 Day Challenge), many have already passed message #1.

So I need to make sure they know about the new gift as well. And I want to do this quickly because I don’t want to broadcast a message to everyone including those that have seen the new message 1.

This is the first broadcast message I’m doing for this list, so I go to Messages/Broadcast, and I type up a regular HTML message that explains why they’re getting this free gift, and how they can get it. I add the {!signature} tag, which I had talked about during Day 10.

I make a text version of the same message by copying the HTML message into the text box. I have to remember to add the full URL to the download page where I had linked in the HTML version.

The broadcast is set to go out immediately, and I turn off the syndication options because I don’t want any chances of my download page being seen on Twitter or in an RSS feed (we’ll be talking about these later).

We’re all set with today’s steps. With a (hopefully) higher converting squeeze page, I can now work on monetizing the signup process by creating a special offer for new subscribers. That will be on the agenda for tomorrow!
