Hi again. I’m Nicole Dean and I’m visiting this week as a Guest expert while Bob is headed to Poland.
I’m doing a Star Trek theme and am having a BLAST! (And, yes, there is another picture today.) ;)
So far I haven’t really given you much background about me so that you can decide whether to trust a thing that I say. So, here’s the scoop.
I’ve been earning a “full time” income online since 2005 and it’s increased every year.
People always ask me how I earn money online. My income is split between the following:
Affiliate marketing.
Definition: Affiliate marketing is earning money by recommending others products and services. You earn per click, per lead, or per sale. So, if you sell a dog dish, you might earn 10%. If you sell an ebook about training your dog, you may earn as much as 75% of each sale that you refer. (Yes, it’s pretty cool!)
Recommendation to learn more about making money with affiliate marketing: Affiliatenaire
Affiliate management.
Definition: A service provider who runs other people’s affiliate programs – recruiting and motivating the affiliates there.
Recommendation to learn more about this type of income: Sales Army Secrets: Learn How to Get an Army of Affiliate Promoting you… or your Clients
PLR sales.
I own one of the most popular PLR sites since 2006, providing quality content for bloggers and marketers to use on their websites.
Definition: PLR or private label articles are articles that you can purchase for as little as $1 each for your website or blog. You can edit them and use them as blog posts or in any number of ways.
Recommendation to learn more about using PLR to make money: Easy PLR
My own infoproducts.
Definition: Creating an ebook of your own or writing a small report is another way to make money online.
Recommendation to learn how you can make money with infoproducts: Small Reports Fortune
A variety of other things.
Creating niche sites and offering adsense and advertising has always done well for me.
ok. Back to Star Trek. The lesson today is about pushing yourself past your imagined limits.
5 Lessons I’ve Learned from Star Trek that Have Helped me with my Online Business
Lesson #4: “I’m giving her all I can, Captain”

Oh Scotty, Scotty. When Captain Kirk asked how long it would take to get the warp back online, his answer was never the answer Kirk wanted.
Two weeks? How about 2 days.
Two days? How about 2 hours.
And, Scotty always worked his butt off to get it done.
What about us. Are we “givin’ it all we can”? Oh heck no.
Most days, we wander from unproductive distraction to the next unproductive distraction all day long, and think “Why can’t I get anything done!”
I’m about to introduce you to something that I learned about in college. I talk about it a lot so, if you’re a regular reader of mine, you know that little $7 contraption that I love so much.
My Egg Timer (or kitchen timer).
Here’s the scoop. In college, I realized that it didn’t matter whether I was assigned a project a month in advance or a day in advance. I would get it done on time and get the same grade either way. Hmm… So, if the project was to write a paper, I could spend 20 hours on it — or 2 hours, depending on how long I put it off.
Why do you think the difference was? One word. FOCUS.
When the project was due weeks away, I’d work on it, but get distracted by other things and… well, I didn’t really have to finish it that day, so I’d go research more.
When the project was due the next day, I was head down, working very focused and I’d get it done and printed and get to bed before 10 pm.
It’s the same thing now. You may be pushing yourself — or you may be PUSHING yourself like you mean it. (Or you may be holding yourself back like “Nik/Kirk” is holding back “Bob/Spock” in the picture above.)
There’s a big difference between the two. LIke comparing “jogging in the park” vs. “competing in the Olympics”.
My favorite resource to learn how to get the right things done during your day is Homepreneur Habits.
Set a goal. Then set a timer. You’ll be amazed at how much more you get done in less time.
I’ll be back tomorrow with my wrap-up. Have a great day!
Warmly,
Nicole Dean

What a great idea! The egg timer! Never thought of that! I’m always procrastinating! My HD is filled with PLR, MRR and the like and yet I never seem to find the time to DO anything with it!
