Setting goals is very important in both life and business, and today I begin a public documentation of my own goal setting.
Over the last month, I’ve been documenting my personal 30 Day Autoresponder Challenge, and it’s been a lot of fun (we wrap up this Thursday with a rockin’ teleseminar with an awesome guest).
Now I’m going to be turning my attention to setting and achieving goals in three key areas: business, fitness, and life.
Normally I would wait to start this process until after my current challenge is over. But I’m getting help from a group of motivated home business owners like me, and we’re all taking part in Scott Tousignant’s Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Transformation Contest. And that just so happens to have begun today (if you’re late, you can catch up!).
Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Transformation Contest
You may hear me talk about Scott a lot (we’re accountability partners), and we’re often on teleseminars together. In fact, my IM Success Tribe members just enjoyed this month’s strategy call, where Scott and I talked about the business effect of holding and participating in challenges.
Recently, Scott was a guest on Nicole Dean’s Success Cast program. It was such a powerful call, Nicole’s letting me give you the transcripts free (download Nicole and Scott). Listening and reading their conversation got me motivated to get going.
So, no more excuses are going to get in my way to finally getting myself back in shape. And at the same time, getting more balance in other areas of my life.
As many entrepreneurs are, I’m guilty of letting my business focus interfere with other areas of my life. This is why Scott’s contest is so cool. He’s getting us to strike a balance, and the results will be more likely achievable and more importantly, sustainable.
Since leaving the classroom, I’ve gained 20 pounds, almost all in my “computer gut” that just has to go. And I’m not getting to spend nearly enough time with friends and family as I’d like.
If you’d like to join me on this journey, please check out the contest page here. The contest is free for customers of the Fat Loss Quickie Experience home office fitness program (which is under $20). Everybody I’ve sent to Scott in the past always thanks me for introducing them to such a positive, motivating person.
Day One
Today, we’re setting goals for the challenge, in 21 day increments over the course of 84 days. As usual, I’m using Freemind to map out my own goals. I want you to hold me accountable to these goals, and help me reach them. And if you’re participating in this contest, please link us to your blog where you’re showing your progress.

Scott also gives us very specific home office workouts to do, which we can do without a lot of equipment, or a lot of space. He designs them to take 10 minutes, so there really is no excuse to doing them. He also gives us nutrition tips via video, with an eye on fat loss while still enjoying food. I typically eat pretty well, anyway, but his suggestions definitely bring more variety. And it’s always good to get help from an expert anyway.
Join Me And Win A Prize
Scott’s got great prizes already in the contest. In fact, I’ve donated 2 of the 16 prizes you’ll see there, including Discover Freemind (for the first 21 day winner) and my Teleseminar Formula course for the grand prize.
But I’d like to give you even more incentive to join me.
If you participate in what I’m calling the “Computer Gut” challenge (in response to Nicole Dean’s Computer Butt Challenge), you will be eligible to win Scott’s prizes plus something additional from me.
You’ll help me pick the prize with your comments below and on future blog posts.
For now, read the details to the contest, and join us.

p.s. Setting and achieving goals becomes much easier when you’re doing it together. Let me know with a comment below that you’re in, what you’d like to win, and what your #1 business, fitness, and life goals are over the next 84 days. If you post your Twitter ID, we can connect and root for each other.

I’m glad you’re taking care of my friend. :)
Love the beach goal.
My fitness goals are to fit into my favorite jeans again.
My financial goals are to replace more than $6K/month of lost revenue (lost by my choice) by the end of the year with passive income.
My lifestyle goals are to continue to make business decisions based upon their direct impact upon my life, so that I’m multiplying my income by subtracting chaos and workload, rather than adding more work to my business.
So glad you enjoyed the interview! Thanks for posting the link to it.
I accept the Computer Gut challenge.
Wow you really rocked it out with those goals! Now I’m thinking I need to mindmap my own too and get a little more daring with them, I think I played it pretty safe with my transformation goals. hmmmm.
@Nicole – I’m just dying to know where you’re going to lose the revenue. (though I can guess) Will you be bloggin about that ;)
Angela
Yes, Angela, I will. It’s actually two revenue streams – one is my hubby’s job. The other? Yes, you’ve probably guessed it, but will announce soon.
:) N
I weighed a whopping 110 kg – all the result of sitting behind a computer 24/7 for the past 15 years.
Then I dropped to 88 kg at the end of August.
Now I’m ready to bust the last 8 kg of that computer gut and butt.
Hi Bob! I am ready to rock n’ roll! Okay, I’m going for the gusto and saying I would love to win the NAMS ticket!
My #1 Business Goal is to create a Home Study System.
My fitness goal is to be exercising 6x per week for 30 minutes by the end of the challenge.
My life goal is to stop playing small and really start getting out there in a big way, which this challenge will help me to do since I can my confidence soaring by day 84 if not sooner :)
Hi Bob: This afternoon I listened to an old Tony Robbins CD (Personal Power II). As I always do when listening to or reading life changing materials, I randomly selected a CD, and I always pick something that matches where I am at that moment. Turns out it was “Creating Your Future: The Goal Setting Workshop”. Then, I read your 2-day-old email for the first time, and it’s about setting goals! And, since I’m kinda wishy-washy with my goals – seems like the Universe is telling me it’s time to set and follow them! So, I’m going to take the 84-day challenge. Fitness: Lose 20 lbs (from 150 to 130) over the 84 day period. Business: Generate a minimum of $6,000/month with my new online business by 12/31/09, and $10,000/month by 2/28/2010. Life: I like Amy’s goal – so…my life goal is to stop playing small and really start getting out there in a big way. Also, my life goal is to relax and FLOW! Thanks, Bob!
