If you’re a coach struggling to generate enough income to live comfortably and stress-free, then you’re probably making one or more of these (unfortunately) common mistakes.

Coaching Income Killer #1 – Charging clients by the hour

The biggest mistakes coaches make is pricing their services in terms of hours or sessions. This turns you into a commodity, and downplays the transformation you provide for your clients.

Instead of charging by the hour or session, create packages that are priced based on the potential results. Include additional resources in your clients’ investment so the value per hour can not be calculated. Even if you offer just a single strategy session, emphasize the particular purpose of that strategy session as the reason for the price – and avoid putting it in hourly terms.

Coaching Income Killer #2 – Not charging enough for what you do

I’ve seen the training that the major coaching certification programs provide, and when it comes to pricing your services, they literally sell you short.

The result is you are likely under-valuing your services and not charging enough. Look at your current pricing model. If you had 20 clients paying you what you currently earn, would you still be earning a relatively menial salary?

The reality is when you under-price your services, you’re also selling out on your clients in an attempt to be “nice”. As a coach, you know that commitment comes with a stretch.

My recommendation?

Raise your prices immediately by at least 25%. And then for every 3 new clients you get, raise your prices again by 25%.

Coaching Income Killer #3 – Only Working 1-on-1

Most coaching models will have you working privately with your clients. And that’s great but obviously presents a capacity problem when growing your business.

There are only so many clients you can help in a day, and only so far you’ll be able to increase your prices.

Instead of working only with private clients, deliver a group coaching program, too. Even if you coach people in the most sensitive of topics, they’ll appreciate knowing they’re not alone. Meanwhile, you can work with more people during the same amount of time, and typically earn 2 – 10 times more for the time.

Don’t fall victim to these coaching income killers. Go to CoachingIncomeSecrets.com now to discover more ways to turn your amazing ability to transform other people’s lives (in life, business, fitness, finances, health, or relationships, etc.) into a wildly successful and profitable business!

A guest post from content creation master Jeff Herring

Content creation and content marketing are a great method for building your prospects and your profits. But you don’t have to get that news just from me – a recent issue of Entrepreneur Magazine had this to say about content creation and content marketing:

“When it comes to marketing strategies, content marketing has just been crowned king, far surpassing search engine marketing, public relations and even print, television and radio advertising as the preferred marketing tool for today’s business-to-business entrepreneur.”

Think about that: bigger than print, radio or television. Bigger than SEO marketing or PR. Don’t you want your share of the prospects and profits from content creation and content marketing?

And since you do, here are 3 reasons you need to be able to do it yourself (at least in the beginning):

Reason 1 – Prospect are attracted to your voice

Whether you have a golden voice made for radio or just the opposite, prospects are attracted to your voice. Because what I mean by “your voice” is the unique way you approach problems. Prospects come on the internet searching for solutions to their problems. When they hear your voice – how you approach and solve problems – they will be drawn to you like magnet.

Reason 2 – No one else can deliver it like you

Here’s the good news and the reality (nice when those two go together): There are more people out there, eager to hear your message, who can only hear it in your voice, than you can ever get to in your lifetime.

No one else your unique perspective, life experience, knowledge and wisdom. No one else. And there are people out there who need to hear your unique message, who can only hear it from you. To not get it out to them is selfish.

Create your content and get it out to them.

Reason 3 – Stronger Foundation For Outsourcing Later

In the beginning of your business, like so many of us when we began, you will have more time than money. Use that time to learn how to quickly and easily, and with impact, create your own content whenever you want or need. In this way, later on, when you have more money than time, you may want to outsource some of your content creation. Then you will know what to look for when you are looking for someone who can “write in your voice” – which is very hard to find.

But how do you create profitable content fast? And without pulling your hair out?

Participate in the upcoming Content Creation Workshop, and we’ll show you how it’s done quick and easy. It’s a free bonus webinar available to you as a reader of the AskBobTheTeacher blog.

A guest post from content creation master Jeff Herring

Content is the basis of EVERYTHING online. Creating your content and then marketing it well is how you profit from your content online.

Step 1: Create It

The key to successful content creation is to be prolific. What most people do is wind up staring at a blank screen. I don’t want you to do what most people do because most people are broke.

Instead of staring at a blank screen I want you to use templates. Create a 7 tips article or a 3 mistakes article. Then all you have to do is fill in the blanks with your information.

Another great way to become prolific is to just write on regular basis. Make it a habit, and you’ll find yourself the flow.

Step 2: Market it

So many people create their content and then do nothing with it. Again, don’t be most people.

There are so many ways to market your content that you really can’t run out of ideas. Start with your blog. Then post your article on EzineArticles and other top Article Directories. Next is Social Media. Use your article content or parts of your content on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. You can also turn your content into teleseminars and webinars.

Step 3: Convert it into products & services and sell it

What most people do not realize is that while you are creating your content you are also creating your information products.

For example, a simple 7 tips article expanded on easily becomes a great eBook. In a similar way, a collection of several articles on a specific topic gathered into one document becomes an ebook or mini-guide.

And that’s really just getting started. There is so much more you can do. One of the best ways to offer an info product is in multimedia, and you can easily create print, audio and video training from your content.

Today’s lesson is a guest blog post of Jimmy D. Brown, from How To Get Free Traffic

If you’re trying to build a steady stream of traffic on your own, you’re in for an uphill climb. You’ll need to spend a lot of time (such as on tasks like search engine optimization), a lot of money (such as on pay per click marketing) – or both.

Fortunately, there’s an easier way to get loads of traffic very quickly – and for free. All you have to do is leverage other people’s traffic and resources. Read on to discover ten ways to get other people to send you their traffic…

1. Be a Guest Blogger

Some bloggers solicit guest articles, in which case you can create a blog post and submit it for consideration. However, even those that don’t advertise accepting guest articles may be open to the idea if you give them a reason why they should.

For example, you can:

Trade articles with the blogger (so that they get to post an article on your blog too).

Use the blog owner’s affiliates links in your article, so that they make money when their readers buy a product.

Offer something else attractive in trade, such as an endorsement in your newsletter.

2. Recruit Them to Your Affiliate Program

One quick and easy way to sell more products using other peoples’ traffic is by asking them to join your affiliate program.

If you’re selling digital products, you should offer at least a 50% commission rate to affiliates, and even higher for “super affiliates” (those who can send you a lot of traffic and sales). You may even offer additional perks, such as bonuses or discounts for their customers.

Tip: You can quickly and easily set up an affiliate program for your digital products using Clickbank.com (which is also a payment processor).

3. Trade Blog Links

Instead of trading content, you can trade blog links with other people in your niche (AKA “blogrolling”).

The first benefit is that it’s visible for a long period of time, as usually these links are permanently placed on the front page of the blog.

Secondly, you can also get a search engine optimization benefit if the blog has a high Google Page Rank (and if you use your keywords as the anchor text for your link).

4. Trade Newsletter Articles

If you like the idea of trading content, then consider trading newsletter articles with other people in your niche.

Tip: Look for those who also post their newsletter issues on their blogs, as then you’ll get the benefit of a backlink and ongoing traffic!

5. Co-Promote On Your Download Pages

If you have products or services that are closely related to another marketer’s products, then you may agree to trade product links on your thank you / download pages.

Alternatively, you can ask the marketer to use his affiliate link to point to your product sales page.

Either way, this tends to be responsive traffic, since they’re customers who just bought something (and thus they’re in the buying mood).

6. Swap Links On Your Subscription Confirmation Pages

Another place you can trade links is on your newsletter subscription confirmation pages. You may even agree to trade endorsements in the welcoming emails that you send to your new subscribers.

7. Do Joint Mailings

If you ship physical products, then seek out other marketers who’re selling physical products in your niche. Then ask these people to send out a flyer advertising your products in every shipment they send, and you’ll do the same for them.

Tip: Look on eBay® to find marketers in your niche who’re selling a high volume of physical products.

8. Ask to Interview Them

The biggest marketers in your niche might not be open to some of the other suggestions we’ve talked about so far, such as content swaps (especially if you’re relatively unknown and don’t have a busy blog yet). However, they may be open to you interviewing them, perhaps on a teleseminar. And if so, then they’ll also likely help you advertise the call, which means you get free traffic.

Tip: Be sure to mention your website link on the call, because then you’ll get traffic months or years from now if you distribute the recordings.

9. Co-Write and Promote Articles

Instead of creating a recording with another marketer, you can create an article together.

Example: You can each share five niche tips. Or one of you can share the tips and the other person can write the article.

Either way, you’ll get traffic because your partner will help you distribute the content, perhaps by posting it on his blog and telling his list about it.

10. Create Rebrandable Reports

Finally, you get others to send you traffic by creating rebrandable reports (using a tool like ViralPDF or Viral PDFGenerator). This is where you allow others to change the affiliate links in a report to their affiliate links, so that anyone who distributes the report has the opportunity to make money on the backend.

Summary

You don’t have to invest months of work or thousands of dollars to get traffic – not when you simply leverage other people’s traffic!

Now here are 3 tips for creating videos with PowerPoint…
Tip #1: [...]

Do you want to create simple videos that get you more traffic, a bigger list, and more sales? Join me for this week’s free bonus training with Lon Naylor and Michelle Schoen…

Create Simple, Profitable Videos With Camtasia And PowerPoint – Wednesday 8 PM EST

Now here are 3 tips for creating videos with PowerPoint…

Tip #1: Make HD Videos with PowerPoint

When you upload your videos to YouTube, are you seeing black vertical bars on the sides? Wonder why you’re not seeing them in the full screen?

It’s because you’re using the default slide sizes in PowerPoint. To make your PowerPoint videos HD, set your slide size to 16:9 instead of the default 4:3.

Voila! Now your videos will fill up the YouTube and mobile phones!

Tip #2: Add Screenshots To Your Presentation

One of the easiest ways to jazz up a presentation is to include graphics.

Did you know you can insert a “screen clipping” to your presentation without additional software? If you’re doing a demo of software or showing off a website in your video, just use the Screenshot/Screen Clipping tool in PowerPoint 2010, and you are all set!

Tip #3: Record & Edit Your PowerPoint Presentation With Camtasia 7

PowerPoint 2010 now has an export to video setting, which is handy, but in-exact. For best results, create your PowerPoint/Screencast videos with Camtasia. And in either case, use Camtasia to edit the result, add music at the beginning and end, etc.

Bonus Tip #4: Forget Trial And Error

I’m a big fan of teaching yourself how to do stuff, but when it comes to doing something for your business you should find as many shortcuts to profit as you can.

That’s why I want you to learn from the 2 best Camtasia trainers for marketing: Lon Naylor and Michelle Schoen.

Create Simple, Profitable Videos With Camtasia And PowerPoint – Wednesday 8 PM EST

During this week’s bonus training, you’ll discover:

How to develop your profitable Camtasia video strategy

How to plan for exceptional bottom-line boosting results

How to record, edit, and produce like a pro

How to avoid costly mistakes and time-sucking frustration

And more…

See you there,
Bob Jenkins

p.s. Lon and Michelle are highly regarded as trainers in this industry. In fact, they are even acknowledged by Techsmith (the company behind Camtasia) as legit leaders… even to the point where they are actually allowed to use their trademark in their domain name

A few years ago, a mentor of mine told me about a new social media/publishing site called Squidoo. It was unclear if the publishing model was going to pan out, but he thought it would be worth taking a look at.

Being a good student, I listened, and created several “lenses”, including one on beef jerky.

Back then, Squidoo had about 5000 “lenses”. About a month later, Squidoo was featured in the New York Times (on the front page of the technology section), and they highlighted my beef jerky lens at the top of the article. (Yeah, it was really cool!)

Squidoo absolutely blew up to become a major content-rich social site. And it’s still going strong.

Over the last few months I’m seeing a similar trend with a site called Pinterest.

I first saw it on the iPad of my girlfriend’s sister-in-law, who’s life as a flight attendant gives her random times between flights to find interesting things to pin, re-pin, and dream about.

I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time as it looks at first glance like a virtual hangout for people that love pictures of food, ridiculously fashionable shoes, and odd looking pets.

But over the last few weeks (especially after having a conversation with Dan Morris at NAMS) and playing around with it myself, I’ve come to realize how much is possible with Pinterest.

From a marketer’s perspective, there’s a lot of potential.

People freely passing around images linked to your favorite blog posts

Generating traffic to your sales pages

Sending visitors around the world to your favorite products and services through your affiliate link

Readers shouting about your book

And all of that being rapidly “re-pinned” at break-neck speed.

Check out my boards on Pinterest and create an account (ask for an invite from their homepage, or post a request on Facebook – it’s pretty easy to get on there).

I’m sure you can figure some things out yourself, but if you’re like most people you’ll want to take a shortcut to make sure Pinterest doesn’t become a Pintwaste for you!

During my Discover List Building course, I’m teaching about it as a way to add more subscribers to an email list. But you’ll want to make sure to check out this excellent concise video training on Pinterest by Dan Morris. You’ll be up to speed in no time.

Also notice that at the top of all my blog posts now, there is a “Pin It” button. So as you read my lessons, feel free to share them on your board!

By all means, balance your marketing efforts on this site with value-added contributions to the conversation. Because if you’re going to get the massive benefits potentially available on Pinterest, just like Squidoo, you should use it as it’s intended: a place to share amongst a community of real people – not a haven for spammers.

Bob Jenkins

p.s. I registered DiscoverPinterest.com today (big shocker!), but I am not sure if/when I’ll create a training around it. Your best bet to learn Pinterest marketing quickly is to get Dan Morris’ video. So that’s where DiscoverPinterest.com will go for now :)

Today’s lesson comes right from Module 2 of my Discover List Building Course, and it involves an underused feature of Aweber’s email marketing system: the Email Signature.

Let me start by telling you why this is so important to use…

One of the advantages of using an autoresponder follow up series is to send the same messages to every subscriber that joins your community, no matter when they join it. You simply create your messages, set up when each message will go out (Day 1, Day 4, Day 8, etc.), and from then on they’ll be delivered like clockwork.

However, the challenge for a busy entrepreneur is how to deliver those “evergreen” messages while still wanting to highlight something that’s critically important right now. For example, maybe you want to promote a teleseminar series you’re putting on to teach your audience specific ways to overcome a particular issue. (Mine might be called, 5 Ways To Double Your Coaching Business In 2012).

You can go in and change each of your follow-up messages individually for now, and then go back later and change them back. But that’s a real pain and time suck because each message would need to be changed now, and then re-edited after your current promotion is over.

You can of course send out broadcast messages, but what about those evergreen follow-ups? Can you use those in such a way to shine attention on your current offer?

If you use Aweber’s Email Signature setting strategically, you certainly can. (Other email marketing services may do this as well, but I’m going to show this tip based on using Aweber)

How To Put The Email Signature Into Action

The Email Signature setting is modified through the My Lists/List Settings menu.

It’s a simple text field that you can enter practically anything you want. You can change it at anytime, and your revision will automatically be applied to every follow-up message in your system that includes the simple signature tag: {!signature}

Imagine what’s possible with a signature added to a few of your follow-up messages?

Run a current special offer for subscribers

Show off your newest YouTube video

Highlight your new fan page on Facebook

Get more responses to a new survey

Attract more followers on LinkedIn

Show off your new Pinterest board

Promote your favorite charitable organization

Announce the publication of your new book

I think you get the idea.

To see exactly how this feature is implemented, and dozens of other secrets to improve your email marketing efforts, dive into Discover List Building – an 8-part virtual workshop that walks you through all the steps. I’ll show you how to maximize your email marketing and social media list building, whether you’re new to online marketing, or you’ve got a few years of experience under your belt.

To your empowered success!

Bob Jenkins
DiscoverListBuilding.com

p.s. Make sure you include the {!signature} tag in your messages where you want your message to appear. Just editing the list setting doesn’t insert it into your messages!

p.p.s. Was this lesson helpful to you? Post your comments below! And then join the Discover List Building course to find out what else has been missing from your email marketing efforts!

I recently wrapped up the Discover Affiliate Strategies Virtual Seminar, and in Module 6, I taught all about creating your own affiliate program to gain more exposure and generate more revenue for your own products and services.

One question I addressed in Module 6 is a common one I receive from my coaching clients and subscribers:

How can I get more affiliates to promote right now?

One of my favorite strategies…

Give A Limited Time Commission Bump

A real example of this was announced today by Groupon, which is doubling their normal referral bonus for 2 weeks (for up to 5 referrals).

And why do you think Groupon chose the last 2 weeks of the year to run this promotion? Because they know to get the most traffic to their site during a busy holiday season, when competition with other deal-a-day sites is at its peak, they need to stoke one of their top sources of traffic: their referring members.

Of course, when you do a commission bump, you’re giving more of your profits to your affiliates. However, this move will typically be rewarded by increased promotions now and continued loyalty to your program down the road.

And to learn more affiliate strategies to increase your revenue (both promoting other people’s products and selling your own), check out the entire Discover Affiliate Strategies Virtual Seminar today.

To your empowered success!

Bob Jenkins

p.s. Did you get your affiliate marketing checklist yet? Print it out and keep it by your desk!
