Top 5 Business Activities You’ll Profit From In 2010

As you think of how you’ll manage your time and resources for the next year, use this list of the top 5 profit activities to guide you.

1. Build a List

First and foremost you need to be building a list.  You need to be building a list.   Now this doesn’t just mean building a list of contacts.  It doesn’t just mean building an e-mail list in an auto responder.   It means you’re building up a group of people who know who you are, who anticipate hearing from you and are willing and able to follow what you’re doing and take action on what you’re offering.

So it comes in the form of an e-mail list like a service like Aweber.  It also comes in the format of your social networks like Facebook friends or fans or Twitter followers in other resources.  You’ve got to be the person that people want to connect to.  If you’re promoting something anonymously there’s no real way for you to build a list very effectively.  People want to connect with a human being.  They want to get to know you.  They want to get to know your business, your personal life a little bit.  They just want to get to know you so they know they can trust you.

So you’ve got to be focused on building up your list.

Got An Info Product But No Buyers?

Info-product sellers know that the hard work starts after you launch your product — whether it’s an eBook, a recording of your teleseminar, a membership site, or even a consulting package. The real work is in getting your sales message in front of your potential customers so they can buy.

There are many ways, as you know, of getting web traffic to your sales message.

Arranging joint ventures
This works great once you are “in” with other successful marketers, but it’s not like you can just log into people’s autoresponders and mail for them, so it can feel like an uphill battle at times to get people to send promotions for you.

Twitter & Social Media
This also works, but it involves constant daily effort and sometimes it feels just like you’re talking to yourself. Is anyone really listening?

[Autoresponder Challenge] Day 24: Connect An Affiliate Program

With the 6th message ready to go, and the free report loaded to give to subscribers, I’m ready to tackle a powerful step in rebuilding my list: connecting an affiliate program.

With an affiliate program, I’ll be able to have other people around the world helping me drive traffic to my homepage. I only have to pay for that traffic when sales are made.

The steps I’ll take are:

  • Set up my product inside PayDotCom
  • Put a PDC button on my buy page
  • Edit the affiliate signup page
  • Create a couple of affiliate tools
  • Promote the affiliate program

[Autoresponder Challenge] Day 22: Promote To Existing Subscribers

Yesterday, I showed you how I was including a new opt-in form split test on the download pages of many of my sites. Already, this has resulted in an additional 10 subscribers, which is pretty cool!  So this proves the point to leverage your own real estate as much as possible.

Today, I’m going to do more promotion of my new list to my existing subscribers so I can continue the transition from the messy list problem to the centralized list solution.

My action steps:

  • Create and send a broadcast invitation to the new squeeze page
  • Set up follow up messages in existing lists
  • Use a free list-builder site (in case you have no list to start with)

Don’t Be Held Hostage By What You Don’t Know

I’d like to share a quick story with you about the pitfalls of outsourcing, crowdsourcing and hiring a virtual assistant.

These are buzzwords and big trends in running a business, and I’m a big fan of all 3.

But over-reliance on other people can be a big problem in your business.

Recently, I hired 2 people (virtually) to work in my business, doing tasks like turning transcripts into articles, add content to my Squidoo lenses, edit my video tutorials, etc.

And for a few weeks, everything was awesome. I was very pleased with the work I was getting back, and enjoyed the freedom of time that I was regaining. It was also allowing me to focus on higher ROI activities.

But then something happened, and to be honest, I have no idea what it was.

Controversy Rages: 1 Click Tweets And Viral Getters

The Twitterverse is in an uproar over the semi-automated methods of attracting new followers to Twitter. Is it all spam? Or a legitimate method of gaining exposure to a wider audience? [Teleseminar Formula] 3 Ways To Get More Traffic With Teleseminars

The number one issue faced by any business person with a website today is getting traffic.
