Is It Really Worth $1997?

The most popular price point for “big ticket” programs online seems to be $1997, and if you’re like me, you probably wonder if they’re really worth it, or is that just a number settled on inside the secret back room of internet marketing.

The answer is yes, no, maybe, sometimes, and “it depends.”

In reality, the answer relies much less on the product itself, but in the results you get from taking action on what you purchase.

Let’s take a couple of examples that are hot right now: Affiliate Dot Com and my own SIMPLE 2 event.

Stick To What You’re Best At!

Bobbty Medina TrumpetIn your business, are you doing what you’re great at, or what other people are telling you to do?

Last weekend, I taught at and participated in the Millionaire Coach Secrets private workshop hosted by Adam Urbanski.

At the event was one of my mastermind partners, Bobby Medina (left in the picture).

Bobby’s known as “America’s Most Wanted Trumpeter” because of his reputation as a superb bandleader at corporate parties, legends tours, high end weddings, etc. He’s toured with Ray Charles, the Four Tops, among others, and has been the bandleader for parties of celebrities like Christie Brinkley.

Anyway, I love this picture we took together as a joke because it speaks to today’s lesson.

Back To School Thrills

I was in Staples yesterday, and I don’t know about you, but I love walking through an office supply store during back to school time.

All the binders, the pens, gadgets, etc., charge me up.

It reminds me of how it felt when I was a kid, and the possibilities of a new year of learning were ahead. Wondering if I’d like my teachers, who I’d be friends with, if I’d get to sit next to the girl I had a crush on…

[SIMPLE Strategies] 6 Key Elements Of A S.I.M.P.L.E. Business

Being a former high school teacher, I’m a big fan of acronyms. So when I created my flagship training program, I decided to call it SIMPLE – School for Information Marketing Profits – Live Event.

However, SIMPLE stands for a lot more than just an event. In fact, it’s a set of elements that guide how a business can be run.

If you believe like I do in helping people profitably, and you want to succeed based on your brainpower instead of gimmicks or fads, you should consider a SIMPLE business.

You’ll know you’re following this model if your business is based on these 6 elements:

  • Specialization
  • Intelligence
  • Monetization
  • Portability
  • Leverage
  • Experiences

Let me explain a bit more about each one.

Communicating Optimism In A Negative Environment

June is Effective Communications Month, and the person to teach you how to cash in on communication is Felicia Slattery.

Felicia has assembled some great communication resources for you at the Effective Communications Giveaway (including one from yours truly!). Felicia is also the guest expert on June’s IM Success Library members only strategy call.

Below is an excellent set of tips from Felicia, who was a featured faculty member at my SIMPLE 1 seminar a few months ago.

Effective Communication And Solo Professionals – Communicating Optimism In A Negative Environment

Guest post from Felicia Slattery

Felicia J. SlatteryCommunicating optimism is ultimately important particularly for small business owners and solo professionals. Of course people only do business with those they know, like and trust. How many people can you say you truly like who are doom and gloom all the time? I’d guess not many.

Remember the Wizard of Oz and the scene with Dorothy and friends cautiously walking down the yellow brick road afraid of what might jump out at them? As the walked forward they chanted, “Lions, and tigers, and bears. Oh my!”

Well, with the state of affairs in the US and around the world, the news can inspire a similar scary chant of, “Bailouts, and gas prices, and wars, oh my.”

I personally tend to be an enthusiastic person and get excited about my business and working with my wonderful clients. For me being optimistic is easy. But what’s a business owner to do if things really aren’t going so well?

Here are 7 tips for how to communicate optimism in a negative environment:

4 Tips For Increasing Your Business

I’m leaving Southern California to head back east after a full 4 days at Adam Urbanski’s Info Profits Success Bootcamp.

Not only was I speaking & teaching at the event, I was also attending to learn and get reminded of actions I should be taking on a regular basis (and some I need to get rid of) to improve my business.

So I shot a quick video to share some of what I got out of the event. Watch and comment below.

History Connections With Today’s Birthday Boy

Do you know whose birthday is (probably) today?

I’ll give you a couple hints:

  • It’s not mine (but Monday, April 26 is!).
  • He’s one of the most famous people to have ever lived.
  • If he was alive today, he’d be 446 years old.
  • He’s one of the most quoted people, although many don’t realize they’re saying lines from his books

Valentine’s Day: Does Your Business Love You Back?

If you’re like most entrepreneurs, you likely spend as much if not more time with your business as you do with your actual Valentine.

The question to ask yourself is with all the love and devotion you give to your business, is it returning the feelings back?  Or is does it seem like a one-way street?

How can you improve that relationship?

Well, for one thing, you can’t go cheating on your business.

Your Competition Is Not Your Enemy

Tomorrow is National Pie Day in the United States.

And although that brings to mind delicious slices of warm Apple pie, with a flaky crust and vanilla bean ice cream on top, there’s a business metaphor in here as well.

Sorry to ruin your taste buds fun :)

In business, you’ll often hear people talk about getting a bigger piece of “the pie”. In the traditional marketplace, this means your slice gets bigger when you take more away from the others, i.e., your competition.

Unfortunately, this is a win-lose situation that typically results in a rush to take away from your slice, too.

Lessons From Manuel In Tolum Mexico

I’m on the internet marketer’s cruise, and I thought I’d share a lesson I learned this week from the trip.

As a former history teacher, the one thing at the top of my to-do list during this trip was to see Mayan archaeology. So during our stop in Cozumel on Monday, we took a trip to Tulum in Mexico.

Mayan ruins Tulum MexicoTulum was a walled city on the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. Today’s site still shows ample evidence of the amazing astronomical knowledge of the Mayans, and the importance of this particular site to their civilization.

But to be honest, without any context or background, the site is a bunch of stone structures on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think what you saw there were the remnants of builders who gave up in the middle of a project.

That’s where Manuel comes in.
