There are a lot of giveaways going on, and you may be wondering why I haven’t been promoting the heck out of them like a lot of other people.

Well, I have two reasons really. First, I have been focusing my energy on doing what I do best — teach you personally how to do the things that will move you forward. I’ve been doing this by hosting live training this week at SolsticeSale.com.

Secondly, I think that the giveaway sites are likely not what you actually need, and in fact, they may be a hindrance to your growth.

Now before I have Santa Sal or anybody else hunt me down with whatever inflatable bat they have, let me explain what I mean.

Take a look at your hard drive and tell me if you have less than 25 products that you have downloaded, implemented and been happy with. Chances are, you’re laughing right now because you very well know that you truly have no idea just how many things you have on your computer.

And they are just sitting there, collecting dust and not moving your business forward at all.

So there are a few things I believe are better than 117 new products for you to download.

First — you should have a core idea of why you are in business in the first place. More importantly this core idea should center around a passion and skill that you have that others want to learn from (or gain access to in some way).

Second — you should have the fundamental pieces of an internet business in place, the kinds of things I’ve been talking about this week during the Solstice Sale preview calls.

Third — you should have a powerful software script or two at your disposal to propel your business forward, but only if you understand (or are willing to learn) how to use it.

For example, I’ve been using the Butterfly Marketing script consistently for the last 16 months, as well as MyViralSpiral for 6 months. And I’ve been using Blogi360 to run my blog for the last 3 months or so.

But any other script I have purchased is likely to still be sitting on my hard drive right now.

Let me clear something up here… I am quite confident that the resources, tools, materials, etc., inside the giveaways or inside your hard drive are likely very useful by themselves.

But with so many to choose from, and with such an over abundance of tasks to complete, they are a waste of your time (and possibly money).

So on this “Super Tuesday” of product launches, I have a few more opinions I’d like to share with you, so I can help you make sense of what’s coming out, what to consider, and what I personally will be doing with this very busy day.

The fastest way to get more people to know who you are is to use viral marketing.

Does this mean you’ll catch a disease? Of course not.

Viral marketing simply means that the message you want to tell spreads like a virus. What if the number of people connected to you doubles every week? You start out with 3 people, which becomes 6, then 12, 24, 48, 96, 192, 384… etc.

So how do you take advantage of viral marketing? Well, you need something remarkable (thanks Seth Godin!), that people are willing to pass around.

Tim Brocklehurst and I spent almost two hours answering the big questions about viral marketing, and how the MyViralSpiral system can be used to grow your list and your business.

During the call we answered a lot of the questions posed to us, but due to time constraints, not all of them could be covered.

So I’ve answered those questions below.

Can this type of marketing be used in any niche? (Danny, Ottawa)

Viral Spiral marketing can be used in any niche where a person who gets what you give them could be incentivized to give it away to somebody else. The person asking the question specifically asked about his site, www.RawStrengthAndFitness.com, and the fitness industry, so I’ll use this as an example.

If Danny has an ebook that he wants to give away about toning the abs, for example, but he also sells a set of workout videos, he could include affiliate links inside the report, and perhaps a discount coupon. People who give away his report using an MVS system would be able to get paid for spreading the word, while both of them generate a bigger list.

Can this system be used to sell other products, such as a multi-level product? If so, how? (Brian from San Ramon)

Within the ebooks you rebrand and giveaway, you can include links to anything you want. Multi-level marketing products would be a great type of product to include, as the affiliate links for those are easy to recreate. The free report given away explains the value or efficacy of the product, provides testimonials perhaps, and shows the reader how to get it. So you would simply write up a 10-20 page report/e-book, include the links to the product, and allow the subscriber to rebrand the report and the links inside with their own.

This proves to be an effective recruiting tool for network marketing.

How to allure people to visit My Viral Spiral site? (Reinhard Schumacher, Germany)

We didn’t talk about traffic on this call, but the point of MVS, in part, is that your subscribers will create the traffic for you. However, you do need to “seed” your traffic, which can be done in a number of ways.

You can use free methods, which I talk about a lot in my report, The Best Advertising Money Can’t Buy (new version coming soon). These include article marketing, Squidoo, traffic exchanges, email list builders, etc.

You can use Pay per click methods such as Google Adwords.

You can use your own autoresponder or partner with someone who has a bigger list than you to promote your rebrandable ebooks.

The best thing to do long term to learn about Web Traffic is to grab a free copy of Glen Hopkins’ Web Traffic Report (it’s mailed to you), as Glen is a leading expert in the area of list building with traffic.

What is the fastest and best method for implementing this program to generate a large list and using this list to generate cash flow? (Clyde - Chesapeake, VA)

Here are my recommended steps…

1. Install MVS Silver on your website (or get the hosted version)
2. Rebrand the 6 included ebooks right away
3. Set the one time offer on each one to a high converting, and related website, using your affiliate link of course
4. Promote your first ebook all over the place (forums, articles, blogs, ezine ads, etc.)
5. Set up the autoresponder within MVS to bring subscribers back to the site to get the other 5 books
6. Go to the MyViralSpiral forum’s JV Heaven (paid members only), and find joint venture partners to promote each other’s site.

Will this have any impact on Butterfly Marketing, specifically on number of MySQL databases? Erwin - Pace

The MVS software runs with just one database. Butterfly Marketing runs on one database. So as long as you are given two you are fine. Most hosts that are good, give you either unlimited or at least ten. That’s why Tim and I recommend Hostgator and Kiosk for this software.

As I said on the call, MVS is like the Butterfly Marketing software of 2007 — it puts viral marketing power into the hands of every day people, and automates a lot of the processes that hold people back from success.

I want to use MVS to promote my ebook “How To Help Kids Learn To Read”. This has nothing to do with IM. Any ideas? (Ali-Melbourne, FL)

I graduated from Palm Bay High School in Melbourne, Ali…. but anyway…

Here’s what Tim mentioned on the call. Take a chapter of your book and turn it into a rebrandable report. Make sure it acts like a lead in product for your ebook.

Sell your ebook on Clickbank, or Paydotcom.com, and get the affiliate link inside your report. Make it rebrandable so your subscribers can be instant affiliates for you.

Second, make sure your newsletter/ezine is discussed in the free report, so you can get people who read the book to join your list.

Third, develop a higher end product, such as a monthly workshop, or membership site for parents of struggling readers. Provide referral contests, monetary incentives, or some other incentive (such as a limited seat workshop) to members with the most referrals. (The MVS system records the top 10 affiliates for the previous week).

Those are just a few ideas for you.

Are the names and emails I gather in my Viral Spiral System harvested by you if I get the MVS Hosted? (Don - Columbia, SC)

The only person who sees the emails of any MVS System, whether free, silver or hosted, is the owner of the system. So Don, if you set up a system with MVS hosted, only you can see the emails.

Even though your members can email their list, they don’t actually see the emails of the people they are emailing.

Don also asks…

Can MVS be connected with Aweber for the double opt-in ability?

First, what you seem to be saying is MVS is not double opt-in, which isn’t true. When a person signs up through the squeeze page, they receive a confirmation email that they MUST click on before they get their report. Until they do so, they are Inactive in the system, and can not receive emails from the referring member. The MVS system owner CAN email them, but only if they specifically send to Inactive members.

In all emails that go out, from the owner of the system or the individual users, an unsubscribe link is presented.

Long time subscriber Charlie Poxon asked me this morning, “How can I start a list in a new niche?”

This question is a well-timed one actually.

I have two answers for this. One is to find the forums in that niche (Google “your topic forum”), and become an active member. Add your signature to each of your posts, and be helpful.

Make sure people see you as a trustworthy person who adds value to the community. And in your signature file, be sure to link to a squeeze page where you can give away your ezine or free report.

But what if you don’t have an ezine or free report yet….

Well, that’s why this question is so timely. I’ve been talking about MyViralSpiral for some time now, and using it since it’s 1.0 release early this year (the one I’m recommending is now 2.1).
