[Best of 2010] Best WordPress Membership Site Platform

This week I’m showcasing my favorite picks for the Best of 2010. This is the final article in the series (the first four are posted at the bottom of this one).
Over the course of 2010, I and dozens of my clients created semi-automated revenue systems using WordPress and a particular membership site platform. If you’re new to my blog, you might think I’m going to choose Wishlist Member for this commendation.
However, the Best WordPress Membership Site Platform of 2010 is Digital Access Pass.
And just this morning, I received an email from it’s creators Ravi Jayagopal and Veena Prashanth that the 4.0 version is now in beta. More about that in a second, but here’s why DAP gets my Best of 2010 designation.
- Digital Access Pass turns my free and paid members into instant affiliates so I can have my members have an easy way to help grow the sites I use DAP on.
- DAP acts like a plugin, but is actually fully independent of WordPress which means it has no risk of getting “broken” when WordPress updates.
- DAP allows you to deliver content sequentially over time within the same membership level. You can release new blog posts, pages, even PDFs and video files to become available any time over several years.
- DAP keeps track of where a member stops their payment, so if they restart they can begin where they left off.
- DAP allows you to sell products and services anywhere online (your blog, email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, wherever), and have the purchase automatically connect to your membership system. This has allowed me to sell my coaching and consulting services, live events, information products,
- When upgrading DAP from one version to another, you’ll simply need to upload files and press 1 button to complete the upgrade.
- DAP affiliate links can be customized to redirect to any page on your site. Meanwhile you can set the default landing page for affiliates to be different than your regular homepage (such as a “referred by a friend” special offer page).
- DAP integrates with Aweber (and other autoresponders) to allow a single registration process.
- Although a couple of my clients prefer WishList, more often it’s the case that my clients and others I see online leave WishList in favor of DAP because of frustrations that they ran into that WishList couldn’t solve.
- DAP continues to get upgraded on a regular basis with additional features. This year, DAP added integration with vBulletin and other membership forum systems, product chaining (get Product B when purchasing Product A automatically), and more. And just this morning, it was announced that DAP 4.0 includes discount codes and button generators for Paypal, as well as 2-tier affiliate tracking (if you are using something other than Paypal).
I could keep listing reasons why I love DAP and it’s the Best of 2010, but I think you get the point. Feel free to ask questions or share your feedback about DAP, Wishlist or other membership platforms for WordPress below.
And if you don’t already have DAP, put it to work in your business in 2011 and see for yourself how your business can grow when you have an automated WordPress membership system as your online marketing partner.

p.s. If you’d like to learn how to use DAP beyond the excellent user manual and videos already provided by the DAP team, check out my Discover Digital Access Pass training. It’s included with all my other courses in the Gold membership at IMSuccessLibrary or by itself at DiscoverDAP.com.
p.p.s. Sites where I’m using DAP include TakeActionReviseLater.com, IMSuccessLibrary.com, and IMFAQ.com. Additionally, I use it to sell my home study course at StartImpactingMorePeoplewithLessEffort.com and my live event at SIMPLE10k.com but deliver those products through the IMSL.

Thanks for the review I will grab DAP latter in January once I get Paid again :) and will get the discover DAP at the same time to make sure I get the most out of it.
Best wishes for the new year
Does it deliver foot massages too?
You know, Bob, I really think you have a gift for finding great resources for people. I’m now very interested in DAP and look forward to trying it out for my 2011 releases!
thanks!

Thanks Bob,
I’ve been looking at DAP to integrate into an upcoming website using wordpress.
Thanks for the timely review. Appreciate the words of wisdom.
hope you have a great start to the year!
Hi Bob,
DAP is no doubt the best pick on the market. I was introduced to Ravi last April in Atlanta at a Stomper event. I began using DAP then. Through some issues with Stomper my license “expired”. I just now am coming back to that particular site I was building and so I re-purchased DAP through your link. I am looking forward to going through DiscoverDAP next month.
