Today’s excerpt is from the 7 Secrets To Success With Squidoo tele-training, which will be part of the new Apprentice program. The topic is how to become an expert (and why it’s essential that you do so) using Squidoo.

Bob, I’ll really try to learn all about Squidoo. I just launched a brand new website yesterday evening. I’ve been promoting it but so far I haven’t had a
sale. I also have one that is a bookstore. http://followinhisstepsbookstore.30fold.com

“I NEED MORE TRAFFIC.”
I find myself saying that alot, as an internet marketer.
And I think you have provided a solution to my problem, Bob – thank you.
Please let me know when Squidoo Secrets V2 goes live.
Your friend,
Richard Howell
Bob, I listened to the audio – the first I’ve ever listened to online in 3 years.
It appears that all you have to do is to be a good, convincing liar.
Tell people you’re an expert even though you know nothing at all about the subject – con or pay some other people into saying you’re an expert and then the suckers will buy anything.
Simple – I’m in!
I’ve been on Squidoo for a year or more with no sales or traffic but assumed that was normal. Now I know why.
I don’t tell people that I’m an expert when I know I’m not.
I’ll never believe that anyone is an “expert” again. Not even my Heart Surgeon.
All he has to do is say he is an expert at Heart Surgery – and he is. Easier than Med School. LOL
Thanks for listening to the audio, Clive – and for your comments.
I must say first that you’ve commented on my blog several times now and I have yet to see a positive comment from you. I know you claim to be “grumpy” but come on.
You’re missing the big picture here. I am not saying to claim to be an expert when you know you are not. That’s ridiculous.
I’m saying if you know your stuff, then you need to let people know it. It’s a 3 part process – you say it, others back you up, and then you keep saying it. If you don’t know your stuff, then no one else will back you up.
Also, Squidoo is not the ONLY thing you do to get traffic, and certainly simply making lenses isn’t enough. You have to work within the Squidoo and Web 2.0 communities to become well known and develop your reputation as the expert you want to be known as.
The bottom line is, if you want to be known as an expert you have to look in the mirror first. Nobody is going to say you’re an expert until you at least go out on a limb and publicly declare you know what you’re talking about, and you can back it up.
Bob
I have to agree with Clive a bit. I think all the “experts” have ruined the web. You have to be doubly careful about what you accept as true. I know a lot about the subjects I will use on the lenses, however, I don’t think I am an expert in those fields. Take everything with a grain of salt. You, Bob are a teacher and you certainly know your internet marketing.
Just signed on today. It seems Social Networking is the new wave and I better learn to ride it. I am not a very social bug -especially in real life!
So far the info is easy to understand an follow, I hope it stays that way. Techno stuff really throws me.
