You may have noticed by now that I’m swinging back and forth each day between 4 different essential strategies that need to be weaved together for effective listbuilding:

  • Traffic
  • Conversion
  • Communication
  • Monetization

Yesterday we finalized a 2 day process of creating a new opt-in offer (i.e., list bait, or free gift) by connecting the new offer to a revised squeeze page. That falls into the conversion category.

Today, we’ll be getting into the monetization area. And if we do it right, later in the challenge I’ll connect what we do today to my very favorite traffic source (more on that soon).

So here are the steps to tackle today:

  • Create an irresistable offer package
  • Set up the download page for that offer
  • Create the sales page for the offer

Tomorrow, I’ll make a payment button and connect the system to the list. So this is part 1 of 2 for monetizing with a special offer.

Making An Irresistible Offer

Asking new subscribers to buy something from you is tricky business. You don’t want to aggravate them with a useless pitch and make them clutch their wallets for dear life. But you also want to get effective solutions to them quickly. Asking them to pay for the solutions they most need is the definition of smart business.

During Day 11, I shared with you the results of my Poland Package buyer’s survey. Here’s the vote results again:

I used this information to pick the Becoming A Known Expert as the free gift. Now I’m going to compile my irresistable offer from the next highest vote getters.

But I’m going to select the 3 that I think will most appeal to my ideal audience as well. So although Teleseminars are high on this list, I believe that Communication Strategies will be a better fit for this phase of my interactions with my new subscribers.

So my irresistable offer will be a collection of 3 teleseminar strategy sessions I did with my IM Success Tribe – Info Product Creation, Info Product Marketing, and Communication Strategies.

All 3 are essential to promoting a business online, and they also highlight the various ways I can help them grow their business.

If you haven’t made a product yet, I’d strongly recommend you do so as soon as possible. You can compile private label rights content together, host and transcribe a teleseminar, or create video tutorials. Or if you’re bold, sell a coaching program or live e-course that you create after your initial orders come in!

Creating The Download Page

To help me keep on track for the rest of this process, I launch Freemind and put a little mindmap together.

This map will help me stay focused, and I offer it to you here as a way for you keep the steps in order.

The download page for my special offer is created the same way my free gift was, except I’m using the Marketing Pro pages instead of a blog page. This is because I don’t currently have a new list set up for my buyers (I need to do that some time in the future), and I won’t be able to send them a password. Without password protection, my blog page would show up in my sidebar – which is not good!

So I take the download page I had for my Poland Package and I copy the 3 sets of download links/replay buttons and their corresponding handouts for those 3 sessions. I add a welcome message that includes a reminder that their payment was processed to Shylar’s Quest, LLC (my company).

After the content of the offer, I add a quick promo for my IM Success Tribe coaching program. This is where the audios came from, and it’s a good transition from one to the other. And it fits my goals for the new list quite well. I also add a link to my support desk at the bottom in case something goes wrong.

Set Up The Sales Page

Next up, I need to make the sales page. Because this is going to be right after they opt-in, I don’t want to make a page that’s too long. And I also want to remind them of what they are already getting so they don’t feel like I’m doing a bait and switch.

So I add a good headline, subheadline, etc. And start the message by telling them what they’ll learn in the free audio that they asked for, as well as the IM Success Insiders Club newsletter they’ll receive in the mail.

I’m using the same overall sales page as I used for the Poland package, specifically the boxes with benefit bullets for each of the audios. But I’m taking out any of the references I had to Poland, summer, etc.

I add a few p.s. to remind them of the main reasons they should get their IM Success Starter Kit (that’s what I’m calling the product).

In the order box, I’m setting up the price, but I’m not going to set up a button until tomorrow.

There will be two versions of this page; one will be what new subscribers see immediately (a true “one time offer”), and the other will be the standard offer that they’ll see when they come back later. This is another awesome feature of Blogi360 – QuanSite, by the way. For now, though, I’m just worried about making the special offer page.

I’m keeping the sales page as simple as possible for now, because I focus on function first, and conversions second. And I could tweak and tweak the sales letter til the cows come home. Only real traffic will tell if I’ve done a good job with the copy.

Tomorrow, I’ll connect the payment button to the page, and the return from Paypal to the download page. I’ll also make the standard offer page, and connect the whole thing to my confirmation link in the autoresponder.

See you then,

Bob Jenkins

p.s. If you don’t have a merchant account or shopping cart yet, I’d go with Paypal for now. That’s still what I use for all my transactions, and I love the simplicity of it. I’ll be setting up my buttons with it tomorrow so I can take orders with credit cards, e-check, or Paypal. Make sure you get the premiere or business account, not the personal one.
